Lucie Blackman worked in a Tokyo hostess club. Such clubs deal in illusions of intimacy and they employ thousands of young women from around the world.
She would sing Karaoke and chat with Japanese men who paid handsomely for her company. But flirting an affectionate slow dance was as far as it was supposed to go. Then, in February, police made a gruesome discovery. The naked body of the 21-year-old British woman was found dismembered and partially encased in concrete. It had been abandoned along the Japanese coastline, some 30 miles outside of Tokyo.
