Doris Russell found the missing link of her family to be Harvey Quillin, who has spent the last six decades as an orphan.
Dec. 22 — In Lennox, Iowa, this is going to be a better Christmas for Harvey Quillin and an even more meaningful one for Doris Russell, who lives in Raymore, Mo. These two individuals have discovered each other at long last.Harvey is 77 years old now, and he still has the mind of a child. He cannot tell the whole story himself, but he remembers what happened to him when he was 10, when his father, Vasco Quillin, "dropped [him] off here."Russell knows more of the story. "Obviously the father could not take care of him, or I don't know. Maybe he didn't want to," she says. "But in 1934, he was placed in a boys' home in Iowa."
